The white-label checklist

Twelve questions to ask before you pay for a branded coaching app — from store listings to data portability when you leave.

"White-label" is the most abused phrase in coaching software. It can mean your logo in their app's header, or your brand on an app-store listing your clients install directly. The difference is worth hundreds of dollars a year and most of your brand equity.

Before you pay for any platform's branding tier, get written answers to these twelve questions.

Your identity

1. Where does my brand actually appear? Logo and colors on the login screen? The app icon on the client's home screen? The name under the icon? Push notification sender? Each is a separate decision; vendors rarely volunteer the full list.

2. Do clients install my app or their app? A custom listing under your studio name is real white-label. A "theming" option inside the vendor's app is not the same product.

3. What do clients see in emails and receipts? Payment confirmations from a stranger's company quietly undo the brand you paid for.

The money

4. Is branding included, add-on, or enterprise-only? This single answer reorders most pricing pages. A cheap plan plus a $169 branded-app setup fee is not a cheap plan.

5. What are the recurring costs beyond the subscription? Developer accounts, per-branding refresh fees, re-publishing charges when you change your logo.

The client experience

6. Is it web, PWA, native — and what breaks offline? Clients log sets in gym basements and parking garages. "Works offline" needs to be true for logging, not just reading.

7. How do clients get support? When your client hits a bug at 6am, who answers — you, or the vendor? Under your brand, it is your problem either way.

The exit

8. Can I export everything — programmes, history, messages, photos? In what format, how fast, and what does it cost? The day you leave is the wrong day to learn the answer.

9. What happens to my clients' accounts if I cancel? Can they keep their history under my next platform, or does years of progress vanish with my subscription?

10. Is there a notice period or data-hostage clause?

The honesty check

11. Ask for one live client account on a branded instance. Not a sales demo — a real coach's live app, anonymized. What you see there is the truth; what you see in the pitch deck is marketing.

12. Search "[platform] + branded app + reddit". You will find coaches describing exactly what broke and what it cost. Ten minutes of reading saves months of frustration.

NetFit's answers, briefly: your brand across web, PWA and the clients' installed app from the free plan (included, not an add-on); offline logging that queues and syncs; you or your clients can delete the account and its data (a full portable dump is not a product feature yet); clients join free and their accounts are theirs.
